Soldiers with the 982nd Combat Camera Company (Airborne) ruck on the streets on Wilson North Carolina on September 27, 2013. Each pack has at least 35 pounds and was to be carried for 10 Kilometers (6.2 Miles) in under 2 hours. This was done in preparation for a 20 Kilometer (12.4 Miles) ruck march later in the year.

Thank you for sharing this wonderful picture!

This image gives the viewer a perspective of being there, the scope of view is such that looking at it makes me want to actually walk along with the soldiers (or potential soldiers) in it.

Thank you again for sharing it. I hope you do more photography and share that as well.

Now I have to add filler words to meet the word count, so thank you for your patience regarding that matter. And I suppose I'll keep going since I have a few more words left to add in for the word count. Now I've hit it.

Thank you.

Those marches were fun, but we had to go in BDUs in the summer as well while doing this, that was tiring.

I was quite confused when we were told our uniform was a tan top, pt shorts and combat boots!

BDU's.. you were in quite a while ago?

Last time I did a ruck march was in Basic which was in 2008, and it was full ACU's in the summer down at Jackson.  Ugh

I thought BDU was a catch-all term for whatever uniform is in service. I was a German Tanker, so Flecktarn, with t-shirt underneath a long sleeve part over top.

Oh I see, not as far as I know. :)

That's how are uniforms are too, but BDU's were forest patterned, black, brown, and green, while ACU's are the one's commonly seen on US Soldiers right now. Like in my profile picture.

Would have loved being a Military Photographer. In most militaries its apprently difficult to get into since not everyone has such a large military as the US does.

It's actually not an easy job to get in the US military either.  They only allow a certain amount of people in to the job and you have to score rather high on the test you take to enlist.

The only things I scored high on involved becoming a Platoon Marksman, Armoured vehicle gunner, or Logistics and Paper-pusher stuff due to being fluent in English. So I opted to be a Tanker as I did not join up to sit in a cozy office all day making coffee and doing crap.

LOL, I understand that! You're most welcome. They did well, uphill, then back down on a Bragg backroad.

I've carried at least 20 while backpacking in the Sierras. Carrying 35 for 6 miles or 12... I could do that! :D hurray for physical power!

This ruck march SUCKED!  I haven't had to do a ruck march since basic training which was in 2008, and my feet definitely paid the price, and one is still healing.  I had yellow ooze and blood squirting out of the back of my heels.
