Desert Eagle by cheslah Desert Eagle by cheslah
This is the Desert Eagle I got to shoot this weekend. It was awesome. No, I was not like the girl in the Youtube video who smashed her face with the weapon. Though I did have about 15 people, mainly marines, watching me and videotaping me in hopes that I would be like the Youtube girl. Yes, I have aquired a video :D And yes, I hit the target. Four times in fact! :D

Composition works, you've hit the rule of thirds well and used the shape of the gun to direct eye flow. I like the setting of the gun being laid on top of military camouflage. Unfortunately, it lacks anything truly deep and meaningful in and of itself. The blurb in your description gave it most of the meaning; this is just a picture of a nice handgun. I feel like you've cropped at an awkward place. If you had cropped in further, and I mean way further like macro photography, you would have had a very interesting photograph; it would have been less obvious as to what the object was, and people would have given it more time for thought. On the other hand, you could cropped out wider and, with the addition of some more props, told an interesting story. For example, is a soldier packing his/her things to get ready to be deployed? What kind of small mementos is this person packing to remind him/her of home? Just some thoughts to give a little more impact to the artwork here.

No handguns at all, since the Hungerford shootings in 1987.[link]
Shotguns must be over 26 inches barrel length and pumps/autos limited to 3 shots, and only single shot rifles, and they are very restricted too.

Wow, I knew guns were restricted over there, but I never knew why. But in my head, that doesn't justify taking peoples guns away. Well, that's just my opinion anyways.

I agree,a nutter is a nutter whatever the weapon used.
Whats the adage"If you Outlaw guns, only Outlaws will have them"...then we are all buggered..

They're talking about restricting our guns over here too, I'm really not too thrilled about it, because it's exactly like you say. Since when do criminals follow the laws? Law abiding citizens will be unarmed against the criminals.

Its a case of applying the current laws correctly, not getting their collective knickers in a twist.
Yep,we have very restrictive laws here,if you defend yourself during a house invasion, its possible the felon will sue!!!!..

It's like that here too, which is absolutely stupid. We recently had a case make national news about it. Here, if someone breaks in to your house, you have to shoot to kill or they can sue you.

Last year he brought me an AK and an AR at the same time (they were a package deal and it was a really good deal), so I think I can cope this year ;) One thing I do want to try though, is one of these days I want to get a 450 bushmaster upper or a 458 SOCOM upper for my AR, (Im leaning towards the bushmaster as the bullets are easier to find, and Im not experienced at reloading yet) to turn it into a large bore big game gun. They are legal rounds for hunting in my state too, so that would be really cool to do. Don't suppose you have any experience or tidbits of advice with that particular configuration do you?

I wouldn't mind owning one of those if it weren't for the fact that they are so expensive. I've held a few before and they feel like bricks in your hand. I have large hands and the gun still feels too big.

nice shot might i suggest putting it on some subdued digital camo or some german flectar camo adds a nice extra color that mixes well with matte and polymer framed weapons

I love the Desert Eagle, I think it's an awesome mechanical design. The modularity of an AR-15 (at least on the current Mk.XIX variant,) four recoil springs in two coaxial pairs, long-stroke gas operated with a four-lug rotating bolt, and an ingenious magazine design on the rimmed-cartridge versions. They even made it in .41 Magnum! I love obscure handgun cartridges! At the same time, I'm really annoyed by it being super popular for all the wrong reasons, just for how much it has appeared in media and how it has been way over-hyped OH GOD I'M A GUN HIPSTER HOW DID THIS HAPPEN

Anyway, I think the photography is excellent, definitely probably maybe definitely better quality than my own handgun macros. The one suggestion I can make is that putting a short, cylindrical object (.50 BMG cartridges, live or fired, are both cool and topical) through the trigger guard lets you prop the gun up like a tripod and pose it for angles that are otherwise a little difficult to get, like so.

...but seriously, I will lunge for the throat at anyone who says "Deagle" to my face. Frakkin' Counter-Strike kids.

I did have a cartridge under the weapon, I just wasn't able to get low enough to let the view see the lift. I shot this in my light box, and I need to try again not in my light box so I can get lower. "Deagle?" I've never heard that. But oh my gosh I'm rollin laughin. :D

Doesn't necessarily have to do with strength none of that matters if you don't know how to hold the weapon.
