Description

They are medium sized frogs, growing to be 2.5 inches long.  They are nocturnal.  It's thought that the frogs choose their prey based on how active the prey is. If the prey is very active, it's very likely to be eaten.  Males croak is usually called a "rain call."

This is a particularly wonderful shot you managed to take. The colors are wonderful, the lighting is great and I really like your composition.

Quality:

For starters, wow! I'm really surprised you managed to get such a nice amount of detail with a 1/64 shutter. The detail is absolutely lovely, any shake in this shot would have made it unenjoyable, so great work there.

Lighting/Colors:
The colors are really wonderful in this shot, as I stated above. Very well balanced, the contrast of the frog against the wooden spiral and the soft green/brown background created by your low DOF makes the feel of this shot very serene. However, the light reflecting off the wooden object in the background is a bit distracting but it doesn't take away from the shot in a major way. Perhaps taking a dodge tool or reducing highlights in that region wouldn't be a bad idea, it would force more focus back on the frog/subject in the foreground.

Composition: I love the composition. The placement of the frog, how the spiral leads your eye and your choice of a low f/stop was really well made.

Overall: This is a great shot! I wish my nature shots turned out this well or this clear. I'm usually shooting in the 1000s and I still don't get the level of quality that you have in this shot, so you must have a very steady hand. My only caveat is that some of the lighting in the background is a bit distracting and doesn't add anything to the shot. Beyond that, its damn near perfect <img src="e.deviantart.net/emoticons/s/s…" width="15" height="15" alt=":)" title=":) (Smile)"/>
