Description
The boys and I walked out the front door today and the Ninjababy starts pointing and yelling "Snake! A snake, Mommy! Look at dat snake!" My heart starts racing and I panic because just last night I had to kill a 2 and a half foot cottonmouth snake that was living in the boys' toys on our front porch. I shoved them back into the apartment and looked to where he had pointed.
And this little guy was staring back at me from the top of their wagon. What a terrifying snake, eh?
Did you know?
This "snake" is actually a Carolina Anole, and is sometimes called the American Chameleon because it has the ability to change its colors from several different hues of brown to bright green.
They are extremely territorial creatures, and they have been seen fighting with their own reflections.
Often, they are kept as pets.
Mating is a long game of hard to get. The male will pursue a female for weeks and when she is finally ready to mate, she will "let" him catch her.
