Recieving the Plaque

Violet Castro, the mother of SPC Manuel Vasquez who was KIA in Afghanistan earlier in the year, recieves a plaque from the Commander of the 238 Transportation Detatchement based out of Mare Island in Vallejo, California, at Don Foley Park on July 15, 2012. The 238 has adpoted SPC Vasquez and Violet into their company.

The plaque reads:
SPC Manuel Joseph Vasquez
For as long as this contry has known war, we have embraced the heros it has produced. Americans have rightfully noted the honor and nobility of courage under hostile fire and thanked those who perished in their defense. In honor of a fallen comrade SPC Manuel Joseph Vasquez has been adopted by the 238th Trasportation Company as on of our fellow dragons.
You will always be a member of our team.
